Brad Pitt is likely a name you are familiar with. He is a movie star and producer of tons of movies. Recently, it was reported that a french woman was scammed out of over $800,000 because of him. Or at least who she thought was him.

Scam Setup

Anne (maybe her name, maybe not decided to do what so many of us find ourselves doing: she posted some pics of vacation on social media. Some time after, someone posing as Brad Pitt’s mother messaged to say, “It’s a woman like you that my son needs.” Now Anne says she was skeptical, but did keep in contact. Later fake Brad Pitt contacts her because of what his “mom” said. “Brad” began to declare his love, then his “agent” contacted her as well as someone posing as one of his children. However, Anne complained that she hadn’t seen him.

The Money Flow

To get money out of Anne, fake Brad claimed to have sent her presents, but needed her to pay the customs tariffs. Then, Anne mentioned that she had money from a divorce settlement. Shortly after, fake Brad said he had kidney cancer and needed money for treatments as his own money was tied up in a divorce. He just needed a loan, so Anne sent almost everything from her divorce settlement. To provide evidence he was the real thing, the scammer sent her AI generated images of Brad in the hospital. When Anne would complain about hearing of reports of Brad with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon, the scammer sent her fake reports that the couple was not together.
